The stunning countryside that surrounds us really begins to come to life. We have also recently been joined by 2 piglets who equally seem to be enjoying this sunny weather. For those visitors who are coming to stay with us, don't forget to pay them a visit - and if you...

Autumn is here.....

Autumn has well and truly arrived and the trees are looking glorious as they change from green to various shades of yellow and brown. However, the sun is still shining and it is lovely and warm sitting on the verandah of a lodge. Our chickens and ducks are having a great time foraging under the trees in the fallen leaves. Apples have been picked and turned into apple sauce and chutney and we are now beginning to wind down after a busy season. But if you fancy a visit before Christmas,...

And the summer continues...

Well, what a great summer it has been! Lots of sunshine and lots of happy visitors to Spindlewood - just the way we like it. Things are starting to quieten down here now -and the apples are just about ready to pick - so I will be busy making some homemade apple sauce and chutney over the next couple of weeks. But September is often one of the best times to visit rural Somerset. The peace and quiet along with the continuing good weather make it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Why...

Summer at Spindlewood

So Glastonbury Festival has come and gone for another year. Peace has returned to the area and with it have come several regulars who have been enjoying some lovely weather for thir holiday. The long grass has now been cut and taken away for use by the local farmers and the 10 acre site looks so different. The buzzards have been busy searching for mice and voles, along with our chickens exploring the newly cut grass for bugs and insects. Long may the sun shine - happy holidays to everyone...

The build up to Glastonbury - And the peace after!

So here we are - just one week away from the gates opening for the 2016 Glastonbury Festival. All the activity locally - signs going up and lorries carrying portable toilets - demonstrates that the festival is imminent and yet Spindlewood remains peaceful. Those who stay with us whilst the festival is going on, definitely appreciate the peace and quiet as they work at the festival and love to escape the crowds! If you fancy a peaceful break after the festival, visit our holiday...

Make the most of the beautiful weather

Here at Spindlewood, we are making the most of this wonderful weather. Late spring has to be one of the best times to visit a countryside retreat.  The chicks are now 3 weeks old and are currently enjoying a few hours in their outside nursery. For those holidaymakers currently here at Spindlewood, conditions couldn't be better. Whether they wish to visit one of the many attractions nearby such as Longleat or Cheddar Gorge,or...
